I am a data scientist / AI expert based in Belgium. I design and build data-driven solutions across various domains in the financial sector, including investments and financial markets, marketing, real estate, and insurance. From 2018 to 2024, I worked at KBC Bank & Insurance (Belgium) as a data scientist. Since 2024, I have been working as a data scientist at Bank Van Breda (Belgium).
My work spans all stages of the data science project lifecycle, from scoping and analysis to implementation, delivery, and maintenance. A selection of projects includes:
- AI-driven investment fund (Enhanced Intelligence Fund): the first Belgian AI-driven investment fund. For historical performance data, see Morningstar.
- Generative AI-driven document handling system for Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, automatically extracting and converting information from legal documents.
- Use of Large Language Models (LLMs) and other generative AI techniques to automate and assess claims handling for non-life insurance.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications, e.g. lead generation (propensity-to-buy) prediction using machine learning classifiers.
- Real Estate Valuation Tool: a data-driven valuation tool for land, apartments, and houses across Belgium.
- Bolero Matti: a robo-advisor for exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
- KBC Kate Chatbot: a personal assistant integrated into the KBC mobile application using natural language processing.
In the past, I also taught an introductory course, “Machine Learning with Python”, at the FLAMES Institute for Statistics, organized by the Flemish universities during their annual Summer School in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
